We went up to Cataloochee on Saturday and were in and out all week. It was the perfect place for us to go because we could come up and down from home easily if we needed to. Josh came up and down the mountain when he had to go to work, and it made it easier to have Andrew there knowing that if it didn't work out, we could go home. As it was, we did have to go into town one day to get some medicine because little man was having a hard time filling his diaper.
We hung out, played music, ate snack food, went on a couple of hikes, and took about a million pictures of the baby. Momma took lots of video, but she always forgets that she can't turn the camera vertically, so all the videos are sideways. Some of them are cute enough that I will post them anyway, though. Sorry about that.
Edgar, Sara's boyfriend, came up and stayed one night with us. He had never been camping, or even really in the woods, before this trip. He was a really good sport. The boys made him split wood. They were full of "advice." Again, the video is sideways, but it is just too funny.
Love Birds. :-)
It was right around freezing the first night we were there (don't worry, it warmed up). Poor Andrew was in four layers of clothing. He could hardly move.
The Trantham Scowl
Josh loves to play "Roller Coaster" with Andrew. We think he likes it, but it is hard to tell from the look on his face :-)
We played a lot of music over the week. Andrew is really starting to listen to it. Sometimes he even sings. :-)
Nana brought Andrew a pinwheel to play with while he was there. It was the hit of the week. Also, Aunt Sara is pretty wonderful.
On Wednesday, it rained all morning. Since we needed to get some medicine for Andrew, we decided to come down the mountain and run some errands. But not before the boys had a little fun in the camper:
Just for those who are concerned, Andrew filled his diaper as soon as we got back to the campsite that afternoon. We never had to use the medicine.
Andrew made this face all week. He looked like a turtle. We decided he was puckering up for a kissy face, since that is what our faces look like every time we get close to him.
Andrew started giving baby kisses that week also. You know, the open-mouth-on-the-cheek-more-slime-than-lips kind? They are awesome.
Big man in the camping chair.
Eric came up to stay a night with us towards the end of the week. He is about to be in 7th grade. We really enjoyed having him. Josh, Daddy, and Eric went on a longer hike the day he was there and Josh got some great shots.
All in all it was a pretty great week. Andrew likes camping.
