New things

There were two things different about this snow: 1.) it was wetter. 2.) Daddy was not at work. These two thing meant that instead of exploring and marveling at the snow, Andrew was formulating a snowball attack strategy.

Andrew spotted the amaryllis that mom and dad have every winter at their house. The flower was just about to open, which was completely fascinating to him. Since that moment, he has become my budding botanist. We are reading books about flowers from the library. We watch time lapse movies of flowers blooming. We spot every flower in a 1 mile radius, real or silk, and decide if it is open or closed. We even planted some flowers of our own:
(Hint: in these videos, listen for the words "Flowers, open, close." They have sort of become his mantra)
Andrew is picking up all kinds if new skills lately. Like cutting:
And sweeping:
And even a first attempt at knitting. He has some yarn that he plays with sometimes while I am knitting, and the other day he informed me he needed "pens" so he could knit. I assumed he meant needles.

He fiddles for a little while like he's tossing a salad, then says "ta-da!" and tells me what he made. Usually it's a flower for Sa-sa's wedding. He pays such close attention to what I do.
P.S. Aunt Terri, I haven't forgotten about his birthday pictures. Currently my photographer is running a business, working full time, and flipping a house for me, so I am trying not to be too demanding while I wait for the pictures. :)
