Catch up day 3

We went to Deep Creek with my dad for a staff picnic and Andrew got a lesson in rock skipping.

My mom is Andrew's Sunday School teacher and they are having a grand time. Trish, our paster's wife (who is a complete dear) sends me pictures of their adventures.

Josh fixed our bathtub up a few weeks ago. It needed new enamel. That meant baths at home again!

Summer days on mom's porch, like a true boy.

Games with cousins

Tommy's girls played hide and seek with the two boys for about 30 minutes.

We camped in the backyard for Papa's 50th birthday. It was a wonderful time, with a lot less packing and cleaning up than regular camping.

Goldfish stashed in his shirt

He wore his pink socks for the festivities.

We were so glad to see GrandNana and GrandPapa after their month long trip to California. Andrea's vocabulary increased by about a million words while they were gone. The first thing he wanted to read was If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. My favorite.

We made a pretty big change in Andrew's room this week. We moved out his crib and put him in a big boy bed. We tried to get some last pictures of him in his crib, but he had other ideas.

He definitely is big enough for the change. Believe it or not he never did try to climb out. He did try to climb in a time or two. That boy loves bed.

He has done really well all week. He did slip out one night, but it was before Josh went to sleep and his feet hit the floor first, so it wasn't so bad. :) he looks so big and so tiny in that bed all at the same time.

In Little Pea news, I went to the doctor today. The heartbeat is at 140 beats per minute. Andrew asks to listen to it over and over again. We will find out if it's a brother or a sister on August 21st. Then the knitting can start. :)

Catch up Day 2

We had a fantastic time at Pat and Lisa's house a few weeks ago. Lisa and I had a big project in mind: make a quilt from start to finish. Pat and Andrew had other plans...

Working in the shop

Being a Farm Boy

Some construction projects of their own

You gotta love the safety glasses on the forehead

Lisa and I had just as good a time.

Finished front

Finished back

How fantastic is that? I intended to make it for the baby, but the more I look at it, I think I may keep it myself. :)

I have more pictures of this trip on my DSLR, including more up close pictures if the quilt. I will put them up tomorrow.

Went to a Farmers Market back in Waynesville. Andrew was particularly fond of the garlic.

Marisa came to spend a week with us.

Check out this bumblebee he drew:

I was reading in my daily memory journal that he started coloring like a maniac this time last year. I think a whole year of practice has improved his skills. He is such a little artist.

The other day he took his art book over by the screen door so he could draw what he was looking at.

What can I say? I'm a proud mama.
