Andrew loved The Drummer Boy this year. In the following video, you can listen for some of the lyrics, and it will help if you remember that the drummer boy links up with a troupe of performing animals in the movie.

For this one, remember that the drummer boy brings his injured sheep to baby Jesus for healing:

Andrew is 3!

3 years ago we were only hours away from meeting our Andrew. Boy, are we ever thankful for him!

YouTube Video

He is acting so huge!

We came home from the hospital Saturday night. Anna continues to win the Baby of the Year award. We are thankful to have a little ray of sunshine around this week.

On our way home!

Andrew did great during surgery. Post-op was a little rough, but mostly for a momma's heart. You hate to see your baby feel so yucky. Still, it's nothing a red popsicle won't help.

We are on our way home! Mission accomplished: one kid in the hospital at a time.

11:45 surgery update

In pre-op, watching George

Power bracelets. We all belong together :)

They gave him some medicine to make him loopy, then they took him back to the OR in a cool wagon. He will get his iv and airway after he is asleep.

Procedure should be an hour. We will keep you posted!

Don't worry too much :)

I took this video tonight, on the eve of his surgery.

YouTube Video

I know his leg looks grotesque, but he really doesn't seem to be in much pain. Praise God for the resiliency of toddlers!

Surgery tomorrow!

Andrew had X-rays today and the doctor reported that his bone is totally healed up, so the rods come out tomorrow! The surgery will be at 11:30, but of course we have to be there at 9:30. Prayers are appreciated. I will do my best to post updates on the blog tomorrow. Healthy leg, here we come!

BabyWatch2014 takes an interesting turn...

So, over the last two days, the inside rod in Andrew's femur has slipped out a bit. How do we know, you ask? Well, he told us it was hurting when it happened Thursday and Saturday night. Then he wouldn't walk on it for about 24 hours. Also, it looks like this:

Yeah, we can't have that. Besides being uncomfortable for him, there is a risk it could break through the skin (yikes!) and expose his bone to infection.

So, tomorrow we go to have X-rays done and have a pre-op visit. Surgery will be sometime Tuesday. This surgery will be out-patient. If his bone is sufficiently healed, Dr Hooker will take the rods out. If not, she will trim or readjust the offending one.

All this to say, we really need this baby girl to stay put for a few more days. Prayers for both kids' safety and health would be greatly appreciated!

Decorating for Christmas

Andrew likes the instrument ornaments best. He pulls them down to give then to Baby Jesus.

You can tell which branches he was responsible for:

Remember last year when all he could say was "Christmas"? Not this year :)

The train came back out:

He was very helpful this year.

Also, a brief health update:

Here are the latest X-rays of his leg:

And some footage of it in use just yesterday:

We will have the follow up surgery in Feb some time (when we are ready after the baby is born) to remove the rods. Woohoo!

I am not showing a lot of signs of imminent delivery except that Baby has dropped so low I think she might fall out. However, Andrew told us last weekend that "my baby sister will be born next weekend" and he announced this morning out of the blue that "my baby sister will come in 20 hours." Hmm.. So we are all waiting and hoping. Wouldn't it be an awesome part of her birth story if her big brother predicted it? For the record, his prediction is 3am tomorrow morning. Ben says if I am in labor tonight he and Andrew are going to buy lottery tickets.
