Happy Broken Leg Day!!

Today it has been one year since this day:

To celebrate this day, a day when The Lord was with us and took care of us in amazing ways, we had a Broken Leg party!

Bone sandwiches

Broken bone/fixed bone bread

Chocolate/pretzel/marshmallow bones

"X-Ray Man!"

Maple Bacon bone cookies

"Look Mommy! It looks just like my leg!"

We love this boy so much!

Water Rock Knob Adventure

This morning we woke up to a fall chill and a few colored leaves outside.  We felt adventurous.

Anna, Andrew and I drove up the parkway to Water Rock Knob for a little hike.  I brought all the woolies I could find that still fit them (I haven't finished knitting up their new winter wardrobes yet.  It's only October 3rd.), and I was glad I did.  It was 37 degrees up on that mountain!

I had planned to have a little picnic on the tables near the parking lot.  I really just wanted to get us all outside for a bit.  But as soon as Andrew saw the trail, he was off.

In the car on the way up, Andrew and I talked about the possibility of finding a cave.  There is a Curious George episode or two that take place in caves, and he is very curious about them.  Lo and behold, we found a 3-year-old sized cave on the way up:

I thought we might get up to the first landing and be tired, but we ended up getting almost all the way to the top before runny noses and cold fingers convinced us to turn around.

It was a wonderful adventure.

Girls Weekend

We went on a lovely trip with the girls to shop and be together.

Fun times at the hotel.

Anna was a good little shopper.

Of course we missed our boys. Thank goodness for FaceTime.

I love how she crosses her ankles. Such a lady.

We all needed a little caffeine to keep up with this girl.

"Family Smoke Festival" (AKA the Smokey Mountain Folk Festival)

We had a ball at the Smokey Mountain Folk Festival this Labor Day weekend.  I didn't get many pictures of the musicians, but the kids at the event were super cute.

I can't believe how pretty she is.

Anna loved being on stage with Papa.  She was pretty curious about all the stuff up there.

She is a natural performer.

Andrew let me take a surprising number of pictures this day.  He does not enjoy performing, so I was soaking up all the smiles he gave me.

At some point, a boy just gets tired of photographs.
"Mommy, I'm not looking at you."
