Summer is Awesome!

People keep asking me "Are you enjoying bing home for the summer?". I want to know, what kind of a question is this? Are there people who don't enjoy being home for the summer with their adorable 5 month old baby-of-the-world? I can't imagine this. These days have been the best of my life.

We have been taking advantage of all the time at home to go out and visit Andrew's great grandparents. We just finished a recordable book of bedtime prayers where each grandparent read a page. Andrew already loves it, but I think I love it the most. Listening to all those Wonderful people who are so important to me tell Andrew how important it is to love and trust Jesus brings tears to my eyes every time. How great is my God that he has provided such a heritage of faith for my son.

Andrew is learning more and more about relationships every day. He is starting to be sort of clingy with me when he is tired or upset. He knows we belong together. When he plays with other people he is really interest in their faces, looking and poking and tasting anyone who will let him. He is also in love with his own reflection, which I totally understand. I am in love with his reflection too.

Here is an example of his interest in faces, in this case, Lisa's dad's:

Other new developments: carrots! Andrew had his first taste of them three days ago. I think the jury is still out on them. He doesn't cry or fuss while I feed them to him, but he clamps his lips down. I have to stick the edge of the spoon between his gums and pop them open. Today he discovered he could blow a raspberry while the spoon was in his mouth, and he greatly enjoyed that. Mommy, not so much. :)

This is after one pass with a paper towel.

Mid-raspberry. That is his trademark move this week.

So what should we try next? Something else orange, like sweet potatoes or something green?
