Home renovation, stomach viruses, and parenting

Two days before the worst stomach virus E-V-E-R, we went to Mom's and went flower hunting:

And Uncle Ben taught Andrew about ear protection:

He got a screwdriver stuck in the shop vac hose (cute little problem solver)

And then we got incredibly sick.

Yes, we. Andrew had trouble on both ends for a miserable, sort of frightening week, and the list of people who got it from him include Josh, Amy, Lisa, Scott, Ben, Emily, and Adam. I avoided it, which is no small miracle.
Sick boys

Pink socks seemed to make him feel better. What? Pink socks? I know. He picked them out of some hand me downs, I think.

Starting to feel better. Look how skinny! Ah!

Those of us who aren't sick are working non-stop on the house. It is really starting to look good.

Josh and Andrew planted a small cactus garden today.

(Doesn't that floor look awesome?!)

We did an Easter Egg hunt at the house today, which I realized was a super cute way to give you a glimpse at our progress.

Isn't this shower awesome?

And some rooms that got left out of the Egg Hunt: I am repainting the kitchen cabinets this weekend, so Andrew's room

and the guest room

are full of cabinet doors and drawers. I didn't take pictures of the kitchen or the playroom today because, since the other rooms are being finished, they are basically big piles of tools.

Still lots to do!

Um.... Birthday blog?

Is it possible that I never blogged the child's 2nd birthday? Oh my gosh, this home improvement project is draining all my brain cells...

We had a tool theme for his birthday party. Or our life. I'm not sure.

Sugar cookies instead of cake.

Yummy ice cream...

Everyone who came to the party signed this super awesome book about tools. There are tools for all kinds of professions: carpenter, doctor, painter, watchmaker, all kinds. Josh and I added a knitter at the end. Andrew recognized more than half of the knitter's tools. Proud momma.

Andrew woke up from his nap on his birthday as beautiful as ever. Josh and I had just a few minutes alone with him before the party. They were sweet.

Big tool man

When we were done he even helped clean up. He thought the oversized tool cutouts were particularly cool.

It was a great day. I actually enjoyed going through those pictures two months later. I hope you did too.

P.S. house pictures coming tomorrow. It is looking really great!

Where did my baby go?

We had the last of our snow, and I think we may have seen the last of our baby. He seems like such a big boy these days.

Listen for the "one, six, go!" I promise, I am teaching him to count correctly, he just can't do it when he is excited. It is so cute. :)

Grandnana has been sick lately and Andrew has been very concerned.

He thought giving her a shot would be a good idea.

Andrew is a flower hunter these days. He loves daffodils and "cwocases" the best.
