Adam came back from his wilderness adventure today. Andrew was very glad to see him.

Andrew really was enjoying the book before I got the camera out. Isn't that the way it always goes.

Happy Half Birthday!

We have had a wonderful day with Mike, Jen, Mickey and Marisa. We went downtown and had lunch with Mike and, in the Trantham tradition, Andrew ruined Mike's clothes by kicking a Diet Coke into his lap. Luckily for Andrew Mike loves him very much.

Andrew is six months old today! How can it have been that long? We had a half-birthday party, complete with half cupcakes:

Marisa had possession of my camera today and took lots of cute videos. She asks for forgiveness for the shakiness. ;)

Mickey takes wonderful pictures. His camera is bright red, which happens to be Andrew's favorite color, so he is always smiling at him.

Andrew is copying the Wii Fit yoga poses.

Look at those baby blues :)

Charlotte again!

Andrew and I traveled just the two for the first time today to Charlotte to visit Mike and Jen and the kids. Andrew was a total pro at the car traveling, as he should be at this point. I was prepared with a bag full of toys and a bag full of pasies in the front seat. He can't find pasies that have fallen down in his seat, but if I tap him on the head with one he can reach up and grab it. A convenient skill for a car trip.

Andrew covered up with toys and books upon our arrival. He looks happy to see Marisa, doesn't he?

I just can't get enough of that smiling face. :)

Beach Baby

We had a great time at the beach with Scott and Lisa and the VanBuskirks last week.

Playing on the floor in the condo.
He is really starting to get the hang of this crawling thing.

Happy with Uncle Ben.

All of us eating on the patio.

You know Xander loves Andrew because he let him wear and chew on the precious Vanderbilt hat.

We got this cool float for $3 at Publix. Andrew loves it.

I had a hard time keeping him from jumping back into the pool. He was not ready to get out.

Hi Mommy!

Creeping!

What do you call this? It's not quite crawling, but it is definitely forward motion:

The fabulous toys he is creeping towards are Crayola Jumbles that Grandma got for him. They stack and roll and bounce and spin. They are also pasie-like in texture. Andrew keeps sticking them in his mouth and letting go. They fall out because they are too heavy, but he perseveres.

Also, for cuteness sake:

I love that laugh.

Summer is Awesome!

People keep asking me "Are you enjoying bing home for the summer?". I want to know, what kind of a question is this? Are there people who don't enjoy being home for the summer with their adorable 5 month old baby-of-the-world? I can't imagine this. These days have been the best of my life.

We have been taking advantage of all the time at home to go out and visit Andrew's great grandparents. We just finished a recordable book of bedtime prayers where each grandparent read a page. Andrew already loves it, but I think I love it the most. Listening to all those Wonderful people who are so important to me tell Andrew how important it is to love and trust Jesus brings tears to my eyes every time. How great is my God that he has provided such a heritage of faith for my son.

Andrew is learning more and more about relationships every day. He is starting to be sort of clingy with me when he is tired or upset. He knows we belong together. When he plays with other people he is really interest in their faces, looking and poking and tasting anyone who will let him. He is also in love with his own reflection, which I totally understand. I am in love with his reflection too.

Here is an example of his interest in faces, in this case, Lisa's dad's:

Other new developments: carrots! Andrew had his first taste of them three days ago. I think the jury is still out on them. He doesn't cry or fuss while I feed them to him, but he clamps his lips down. I have to stick the edge of the spoon between his gums and pop them open. Today he discovered he could blow a raspberry while the spoon was in his mouth, and he greatly enjoyed that. Mommy, not so much. :)

This is after one pass with a paper towel.

Mid-raspberry. That is his trademark move this week.

So what should we try next? Something else orange, like sweet potatoes or something green?
